ILCA 6 Qualifying Series Final Results

Due to no racing on scheduled Day 3, 5 January the ILCA 6 Qualifying Series is concluded at Race 4 (see NoR 7.2). The scoring to determine the qualification for the Finals Series provides for a drop (see SIs 16.5). The Qualifying  Series results including the drop are linked above. NB the event comprises a maximum of 12 races (for all classes) so for the ILCA 6s there will be a maximum of eight final series races.

180 Top ILCA Sailors from 13 Countries entered for Oceania & Australian Championships

 

The Oceania & Australian Open & Youth Championships get underway 1-8 January at Georges River Sailing Club. There will be practice race on 2 January with the more serious business starting on 3 January with two races per day over six days.

 

There will be a hot fleet of 180 boats racing in four fleets in ILCA 4, 6 and 7s. The Australian Sailing Team and top level sailors from all Australian states and territories will compete along with sailors from the Pacific, Asia and Europe. 13 countries in all will be represented. Late entries can still be placed.

Competitor, coach and volunteer admission to the Welcome and Presentation Functions is free. Your name gets you in.

 

For supporters and family additional tickets can be purchased Here.

 

The ticket will be sent to your email. You can either print it out or show the email at door on your phone. A word from the wise if you don’t see the email ticket check your in your spam email folder – the email spam filters are working overtime these days and are blocking some legitimate as well as many spam ones.

 

It would be helpful for function planning if additional tickets were purchased before the event.

We will have four similarly sized fleets one ILCA 4, two ILCA 6 (running with 6/6 race qualifying/finals) and one ILCA 7.

Boat Measurement
We will be carrying out measurement from 0900 to 1800 on 1 January and from 0800 to 1700 on 2 January. Please register your preferred day and time for measurement online Here.

 

You just need to go to the measurement station in the boat park in person within the hour of your booked time and the measurer will accompany you to your boat and carry out the necessary checks. How it works and the checks which will be made are Here.

 

We will be sharing dollys for this event so please make sure that your dolly frame, wheels and tyres are in sound condition.

 

Coach & Support Boats

Event Communications
We will be communicating information before and during the event using the Laser App and the event web site.

Please tap the National & District Events and then select “2023 Oceania & Australian Open & Youth Championship”. Once done you will receive notifications on your mobile of any new notices and you will have access to documents and results.

 

The Laser App will be used to sign on and off.

 

If you have any issues with access by mobile during the event then we will have devices at the Sailing Office (ground floor in the SE corner of the club) which you can access. Race official notices will be posted on the notice board also in the Sailing Office.

 

International Jury
As this is an Oceania as well as Australian National Championship we have appointed an International Jury for the event.

Nationals Normal Entry Extended One Week

The normal entry for the Oceania & Australian Open & Youth Championships Here has been extended for one week to midnight on 7th December. After this time entry may be available with an additional $80 late fee.

Oceania & Australian Entries Closing 30th November

 

Olympic Gold Medalist Matt Wearn Will be Competing

 

Entries will be closing for the Oceania & Australian Open & Youth Championships on 30th November.

 

The event will be held 1-8 January at Georges River Sailing Club. Sailors are looking forward to finally being able to compete in this event which, thanks to COVID has not been possible for the past two years.

 

There is a growing list on entries including elite & Olympic level international and top local sailors.

 

This event is the qualifying event for Australian sailors for all 2023 ILCA World Open and Youth Championships.

 

After 30th November entry may be possible with an $80 additional late entry fee.
