Wind conditions in Gulf St Vincent until 1200 are generally NE to NW around 5 to 10kts easing before swinging to a S to SW sea breeze by 1300 to 1330 hrs, ranging from 12 to 20kts.
The incoming tide flow is up Gulf St Vincent from S to N and vice versa on outgoing tidal flow at approx. 2 to 3 knots over a range of 0.5 to 2.5 metres.
However, an unusual North-South Gulf orientation of the Gulf, as well as the large presence of Kangaroo Island result in a unique variation in the tidal flow off the coast of Adelaide – known as “Dodge” (or Neap) Tides. However, a Dodge Tide is not expected during the Laser Nationals 2017.
